We don't like secrets. How many web developers quote rates up-front? Many will spend hours on creating fancy (and slow) animations and elegant graphics on their own web sites to impress you. (hey, we can do that too, if that's what you really need - take a look at some of our clients' pages). Our rates are quoted below. When we sit down with you we'll start out with an informal, no-obligation, verbal estimate to help you decide which features and services are practical and useful for your situation. WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR CONSULTATION. The next step, after you are ready to move ahead, is for us to submit a formal written proposal for your web site. We'll spell out exactly how many hours and at what rate we will perform each suggested service. That proposal price is a firm, never to be exceeded price and is tied to an exact completion deadline. Important Note: The formal proposal price probably will be lower than the sum of the parts described below. Whenever possible, we combine elements to reduce the time needed for completion. The savings are passed right through to you.

BuildingHosting.Com offers you the services of bright, highly talented designers and programmers who have complete command of the skill sets required to execute any Internet concept. They are under the direct supervision of a business manager with decades of experience in controlling projects, meeting deadlines and fulfilling goals.

We Never OutSource Work Some projects may require that we bring in, under our direct control, a third party for certain esoteric portions of a project or to execute a unique graphic theme. However, we never outsource any programming or web site work. We never use templates. All work is custom and guaranteed to be one-of-a kind.

All work is Based on a Written Proposal - We would begin your project only after you approve a written, detailed formal proposal and contract that:

spells out every aspect of the project,

defines the technology we will use,

lists the resources we will use,

establishes objective performance criteria,

includes links to similar work

includes links to checkable references

sets firm deadlines and

sets a firm price and terms.

All development is collaborative. When we start a project we establish a private, password-accessible web site just for you. Our suggested designs and concepts are posted there as they are developed.

We periodically ask your feedback and suggestions and approval as the work progresses. This assures both of us that the finished product is what you really want, exactly what is in the written proposal and contract, not just our opinion regarding what you should accept.

Until you put your final approval in writing, the job is not done.

Here are FREE Tools For Building Your Own Web Site

MicroSoft's monopoly on web building software is being dismantled by the Open Source Software movement and some clever programmers. Here are a few OSS and similar tools that do a better job than Microsoft and they are FREE!

If you would rather build your own web site, we will be happy to host it for you. Although these tools are free, remember that there is still a learning curve before you can fully enjoy all the capabilities. Also, there's a lot of creativity and experience involved in making sure the site does its job. We can spare you that hassle and delay.

Nvu - You can build and maintain your own web pages. Here's a free alternative to Microsoft Front Page. This feisty little FREE newcomer is stealing paying customers away from Mr. Bill. It's WYSIWYG and elegant. It runs under either Windows or Linux!

Mozilla - this free software suite includes "Mozilla Composer" - an excellent tool for simple web site building. We highly recommend the entire free package of browser, site builder, email program and other tools, such as a built-in "publish" feature that moves your freshly edited web pages from your computer to the server. Mozilla is also a superb - and vastly superior - replacement for Microsoft Internet Explorer. It includes a better email program, too. It too comes in Windows or Linux flavor.

Joomla - Click on that link to see their web site. We include this powerful "Content Management System" and "Portal Building" free of charge with all hosting packages. If you want us to customize it for you and maintain the site, we will for a modest price - or you can do it yourself.

Urchin - Oops, we used to offer Urchin but it has been bought by Google, repackaged and renamed as "Google Analytics - and it is now free to anyone, not just our hosting clients. But we also offer three other major traffic analysis tools, free of charge.

FREE - Our Open Source Forum software is a superb, easy to use, community builder. It's FREE with all our commercial hosting packages. If you want us to customize it or integrate it into your web site's look and feel, we can do that for a modest fee. It's also possible for you to do that if you have a few basic computer skills and tools.

FREE - Shopping Cart and Online Catalog software is free. Customization fees may apply or you do it yourself. If you do not have an SSL and Merchant Account we'll set one up for you for a competitive price. We offer four different free cart program packages and we'll advise you on choosing the right one for your needs.

FREE - The best photo gallery creating software there is. You even can earn fees from suppliers who make prints of your photos. We'll install it for free. You can customize it and manage it to match the look and feel of your web site or we'll do it for you for a modest fee.

Firefox - Mozilla's feisty little brother and MicroSoft's nightmare. This award winning next generation stand-alone browser has already captured 10% of the user market from Microsoft. Powerful and fast yet easy to use and remarkably lacking in vulnerabilities that give fits to users of Brand X. Once you use its exciting features you will understand why there is such disdain for Microsoft products among experienced users. Strictly speaking, it does not belong in this list because it is not a site-building tool, but it is so good, I can't resist.

Sothink HTML Editor - if you just want a simple HTML editor but with robust features, this is a good one. It supports code and visual editing modes as well as site management, built-in page previews and file upload. It provides an extensive set of visual tools and templates to speed up page creation.

MetaPad - an excellent replacement for the Notepad utility built into your MS Windows Operating System. It is a far more useful tool and a great aid in building web sites. This is the text editor Microsoft should have sold you, but this one is FREE!

Bare Bones Guide to HTML - is a not a program. It's a web site and a highly useful one. You can download a page that lists the common HTML tags that you need to know. Also, click around in the web site menu. I stopped counting the language versions when I got to 12. There's also links to some excellent free stuff there.

FileZilla is an fast, free and powerful FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program for moving your web site files between your computer and your server or from one server to another. It features an intuitive interface and has many goodies that quickly become addictive because they save you time and hassle.

SourceForge.Net This is the world's largest Open Source software development website, with the largest repository of Open Source code and applications available on the Internet. SourceForge.net provides free services to Open Source developers.

Open Source Software Organization - If you want to know what's disturbing the sleep of many folks in the Redmond, Wash. area, here's the home page that is explains why you can replace expensive computer programs with free alternatives.
